It was recently revealed that PIP (Poly Implant Prothesis) breast implants from France, were made with industrial grade silicone, which is an inferior grade silicone that could rupture, ooze and/or leak exposing patients to impurities and toxins, causing medical issues. The PIP implants, were manufactured in France, but not only used in France. They were also exported over 60 countries including South America (in particular Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Chile), Spain and the United Kingdom. The FDA warned against the use of these implants based on its observations upon inspection of the PIP plant in south-east France. PIP closed in 2010.
